Talent Immigration
Any qualified immigration professional can prepare and file a variety of corporate immigration applications. However, this type of assistance has become increasingly remote and automated, which has been in many ways at the expense of the employee experience.
Globility Group takes a different lens to this important area of immigration advice and support. Our approach is based on three core principles:
Every matter is unique: we understand that relocating to another location is enormously stressful and disruptive. We take the time to fully understand the unique circumstances which exist in each matter, and that there are inevitably a range of questions employees will have around the process they and their accompanying family have on the process.
Balance commercial imperative with risk: navigating the correct application pathway for companies is often a balance of commercial necessities and mitigating risk. Our approach leverages from decades of experience to ensure that outcomes are delivered without risking the reputation of employers or their talent.
Delivering now and planning for the future: immigration is much more than delivering a positive visa outcome – our approach is built around attracting, retaining and incentivising talent for the future prosperity of the business.
Global Talent & Innovation
The fourth industrial revolution is the current and developing environment in which disruptive technologies and trends such as the Internet of Things (IoT), robotics, virtual reality (VR) and artificial intelligence (AI) are changing the way we live and work. It is driving an increasingly competitive global war for talent which is seeing multiple host country governments design policies aimed at attracting this talent to their workforce.
In many cases governments are embedding into their policy framework attractions such as fast-tracked pathways to permanent residence and access to government incentives. These programs often exclude some of the barriers which exist in other talent pathways such as residency requirements, language requirements and business turnover rules.
An increasing number of host country governments are seeing these programs as an effective policy lever to create direct and indirect employment and business opportunities in local economies. This is often translating to a higher processing priority being placed on the programs increasing the chances of success.
In Australia, the Government announced a number of programs to attract global talent to Australia, including:
Global Talent Independent program
Designed to attract highly talented individuals, with entrepreneurial ideas and cutting-edge skills within target industry sectors, who can contribute to Australia’s economy by driving innovation and supporting the creation of local jobs.
Global Talent Employer Sponsored program
Designed to attract highly skilled migrants with cutting edge skills into niche occupations to help innovate established businesses and contribute to Australia’s developing start-up ecosystem.
Supporting Innovation in South Australia pilot
A pilot program designed to attract foreign entrepreneurs to launch seed-stage start-ups in South Australia. The pilot began in November 2018.
Work permit and training applications
We negotiate the appropriate immigration sponsorship status with the host country government, which becomes the framework for employers to hire skilled foreign labour in their business. There is often a complex array of employer sponsorship options available in host country locations, and it is important that the correct option is identified to ensure cost effective and expedited outcomes.
Increasingly employers are looking to hire graduate foreign talent into their business and transition their emerging talent workforce into longer term roles in the business. This strategy requires careful planning and management, as the immigration rules governing this workforce transition is complex.
Business traveller assistance
As the global workforce has become more project-driven, short term contingent foreign workforce strategies have become more frequently used. This evolving workforce profile has raised the risk for employers. The reason for this is that host country governments are increasingly tracking the appropriate use of business travellers for both immigration compliance as well as tax compliance.
Globility Group will design an appropriate business traveller program for each location where employers assign their talent. Our approach centres on the employer and how it deploys this element of its workforce and is integrated into the wider workforce management plan for the business. The approach adopted by most advisors is to focus on the business visitor immigration rules of each host country location.
Immigration labour agreements
Australia is one of a small number of host country locations which have a formalised government program to design customised immigration labour agreements. Other governments do have mechanisms to negotiate variations to the normal visa and immigration requirements, which in some cases can be either industry specific or company specific. Globility Group have extensive experience in successfully designing and negotiating customised immigration labour agreements for companies across all major industry sectors.
Corporate governance and risk management
A successful immigration program needs to be embedded into the wider workforce strategy of the business. The best way to achieve this is to develop a customised corporate governance plan which incorporates elements such as client voice, performance measurements, people and resourcing, processes and policy, technology roadmap and financial metrics. Once designed and implemented, the corporate governance framework helps to manage and mitigate risk associated with the employment and deployment of foreign national workforce.
